THE SWINGING BRIDGE

1906

Fairy Lake was originally a reservoir created by the Canadian Pacific Railway in 1902 to supply water for steam engines. The bridge was built in 1906 to connect homes on the North side to businesses on the South. It cost $300 and lasted for 48 years before being taken down by a windstorm.

1964 - 2004

10 years after its destruction the bridge was rebuilt, only to be taken down again in 1991. Finally in 2004 through community efforts and many generous donors, it was rebuilt stronger than ever at the cost of $250,000. The bridge now overlooks a scenic fountain and the beautiful Lakeside Nursing Home. It is Wolseley's most popular attraction with a small seating area, and ample parking space.
